Vigan, More Elegant at Night
I spent the second day of my Ilocos tour in Vigan. I’ll soon share my entire experience and itinerary in the next few days. From Laoag, where my hotel is located, I rode an ordinary bus to Vigan. The bus left at 7AM and arrived in the heritage city passed 9:30AM. I got off along Quezon Avenue in Front of Vigan City Hall (a block just across Ilocos Sur Provincial Capitol). Father Burgos Museum wood carvings display Though not familiar with the place (since it was my first time in the city), I confidently walked to look for Calle Crisologo – where you can ... Read more

Mystical Cave: An Interesting Place to Contemplate
One great location to visit and reflect this Lenten season is Inday Nelly’s Mystical Cave in Antipolo City, Rizal. This 8-level deep cave attracts both tourists and devotees because of the holy figures and biblical images naturally formed or carved to its walls. This also draws the interests of researchers because of its stalagmites and stalactites formations. It was Palm Sunday when I visited the cave alone. From Antipolo City, I rode a tricycle to the site. Special trip costs Php120.00 but since I travelled along with 3 passengers who were dropped along the way, I only pay PhP60.00. The ... Read more
Sites You Should not Forget to Visit in Negros Oriental
Negros Oriental’s beauty remained a secret to the rest of the country. While most of us flocked to the most popular yet hackneyed destinations, the province’s frontiers were less occupied. The locals are randomly coming back and forth to those remarkable sceneries, yet they remained unknown outside the province. Only just recently, through the efforts of the provincial government, when the province launched a tourism campaign with a tag, “Negros Oriental: fun starts here, naturally”. However, the launch was made only in the Dumaguete, which, I believe targeted only the local market. Negros Oriental Tourism Campaign Banner as shown in Robinsons Dumaguete ... Read more
How to Commute in Baguio
Visiting Baguio is an expensive trip. A round trip fare from Manila to Baguio will cost you nearly a thousand pesos while the hotel accommodation may cost you another thousand or two. You still have to pay for your meals and of course, buy bring-home presents. Another expense is paying for a taxi fee for your tour, which rates peg at 2,000 to 3,500 pesos. If you are in a tight budget, you can have a one-day Baguio City tour. I prepared a one day itinerary, which is comfortable enough for your visit. Another way to save on your trip ... Read more
Baguio City One Day Itinerary
My first visit to Baguio was unplanned, and I only had a day to complete my tour. My work schedule ended at 6:00 of Saturday morning. I was on a night shift, so I had to sleep first before going to any trip. I allocated my entire Sunday to tour around the city and cross out the spots on my list. Before heading for the solo jaunt, I did some research. I looked for places that are approximately close to the downtown. An Igorot Family Sculpture at Baguio Botanical Garden On my list were: Baguio Cathedral, Baguio Botanical Garden, The ... Read more
A Solo Tour in the City of Pines
The hardest hard thing to do before an unplanned trip is to drag or convince someone to accompany you. It was Friday night when I decided to visit Baguio for the first time. Of course, I could not simply phone a friend and invite him/her for the tour. Though I tried but it was a failure – if not because of prior acquaintance, it’s because they’re unprepared. But still, I went alone. I rode a Victory Liner that left Pasay City terminal at 10:00 of Saturday evening and reached Baguio City at 04:50 in the morning. The surrounding temperature is ... A Solo Tour in the City of Pines (Part 2)
A continuation from… After my tour in Mines View and Good Shepherd’s Convent, I rode a jeepney back to the City’s downtown (near Burnham Park). I then took a jeepney going to Fort Del Pilar which houses the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). My timing was perfect because it was PMA’s graduation ceremony whose Guest of Honour was no less than President Aquino. The jeepney dropped me off near the runway along Loakan Road. There we waited (along with other visitors) for a PMA Bus to pick us up and bring us to the PMA compound. It was PSG who handled ... Read more
