Smack in the middle of the town of Baler stands the birthplace of the Philippines’ First Lady during the commonwealth government (1935 to 1944), Doña Aurora Aragon-Quezon. The house had undergone some major restoration but the original details and design were not altered. It retained its “bahay kubo” look featuring fine hardwood walls and nipa (Palmer’s grass) roof. Our first stop for the day 2 of our Indochina tour was the Grand Palace. To reach the place, we boarded BTS at National Stadium station and got off at Saphan Taksin station. Sathorn Pier was just few steps away from the west exit of Saphan Taksin. We hopped on a boat, and then it turned into an instant cruise in Chao Phraya River. The fare was cheap at TH฿15/pax. These photos were taken during our weekend trip to the towns of Burgos and Dasol in Pangasinan. These were the fruits of enduring a 5-hour loud bus ride, then an hour of sweaty jeepney traverse, and an hour of bumpy tricycle drive.
