A Solo Tour in the City of Pines (Part 2)

A continuation from… After my tour in Mines View and Good Shepherd’s Convent, I rode a jeepney back to the City’s downtown (near Burnham Park). I then took a jeepney going to Fort Del Pilar which houses the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). My timing was perfect because it was PMA’s graduation ceremony whose Guest of Honour was no less than President Aquino. The jeepney dropped me off near the runway along Loakan Road. There we waited (along with other visitors) for a PMA Bus to pick us up and bring us to the PMA compound. It was PSG who handled ... Read more

NoyNoying: Portraying the President’s Idle Gestures

Noynoying, in courtesy for those who heard the word for the first time, are gestures used to mimic the inaction or the “laziness” of the president in addressing various issues of the country like surging oil prices. This includes PNoy’s relaxed sitting and smoking position and the copied popular 500-peso bill gesture of his father. It was featured today (March 15, 2012) by the group of youth protesters who joined PISTON, along with KMU and some other leftists, to stage the transport caravan. Noynoying is exclusive to the Philippines and is shown for the first time to the general public ... Read more

It’s Over

There comes a point in our life when you need to say it’s over for you. It’s over for the dreams you want to achieve, it’s over for the plans you have planning for the longest time, it’s over for the times you have been waiting for something to happen, and it’s simply over for the things you love to have and yet you simply can’t. Maybe it’s not about giving up, maybe it’s not about being brave, but it’s simply being humble enough to accept that all things have come to an end; an end for the efforts, the ... Read more

Dumaguete: Where the City meets Tranquility

I was born and raised in Negros Oriental and I spent my first 16 years of existence in the province. I finished elementary and high school in a remote but populated village, just 70 kilometers (1 and a half hour ride) south of Dumaguete, Barangay Bonawon. In 16 years, I can count the instances that I visited the city. It was because I had motion sickness, a normal complain for a typical adolescent like me who seldom travel and just spend the most of his time at home and in school. But high school life demanded me to travel more ... Read more

An Anniversary Prayer

I was given a chance to lead the prayer for our department’s 8th anniversary. This was prepared for more than a year now, but I decided to share this only recently. I had to backtrack my email to look for a copy of this prayer, and then luckily, I found one. Almighty God, Our loving Father, Thank you for making everybody being able to witness this memorable event of our organization We thank You for giving us [eight] long years …united, competitive, and fast growing We thank You for Your Guidance in times we needed You most And we thank ... As summer approaches, you and your team may be busy looking for venues to host your annual team building activities and/or summer outing. There are lot of things to consider when choosing a venue. You have to check if the available amenities could cater your team building objectives; if they have in-house facilitators and other like services; if the location is proximately close from your office; if the accommodation is enough to house the size of your department; and if the price is good. The real meaning of teamwork is to trust each member that they can perform their individual ... Read more

Consolidated Payment Services: Legit or Scam

May 10 of 2011 when I received a snail mail with a letter dated April 21, 2011. At the very first, I was cynical seeing the letter envelop because I hadn’t made any transaction or contact with Consolidated Payment Services (sender). The sender address was Singapore Post Center, PO Box 558, Singapore 914019. But I admit that seeing the letter header enthused me, when it stated it was an awards certification but the question behind my mind is, “for what?”. The letter started with a congratulatory greeting. Further reading disclosed that I was a winner of a guaranteed US$20,000.00 from ... Read more

Opportunity and the Poor

Studying for free and receiving a monthly allowance to finance my school requirements were just few of the privileges I received in my three years and eight months (7 semesters and 4 summer terms) of stay in Ozanam Study Grant Program (OSGP) of Adamson University. The basic requirement is hardwork and the basic tool is patience. Determination is not enough without hardwork but hardwork will not work without patience. Twenty-five to thirty hours of work a week on top of studying hours was really a burden for a chemical engineering student who has no one to depend on but himself. ... Read more
