Mystical Cave: An Interesting Place to Contemplate

One great location to visit and reflect this Lenten season is Inday Nelly’s Mystical Cave in Antipolo City, Rizal.  This 8-level deep cave attracts both tourists and devotees because of the holy figures and biblical images naturally formed or carved to its walls. This also draws the interests of researchers because of its stalagmites and stalactites formations.  It was Palm Sunday when I visited the cave alone. From Antipolo City, I rode a tricycle to the site. Special trip costs Php120.00 but since I travelled along with 3 passengers who were dropped along the way, I only pay PhP60.00. The ... Read more

Two Foreign Students Willing to be Crucified for their Thesis

I was quite surprised when I saw two foreign women carrying their cross in the San Pedro Cutud’s annual “Via Crucis”. Both were in shades while one of them was in boots. They were given permit only to film the rites however they angered the organizers when they took part of the procession by bearing their own cross. In Shades? Eventually, they were not allowed to reach the “Mount Calvary” nor permitted to be crucified. The Mountains’ Greatest Nightmare

If I am a mountain, then this would be my greatest nightmare. Unfortunately, for the few mountains I saw in the not so distant past, this had become a bold reality they were and are currently facing. Eight years ago when I attended the Regional Schools’ Press Conference in Bohol when I saw mountains which sides are being sliced to mine limestones. And just recently, I witnessed the same disturbing fate. Two Sierra Madre hills were being carved and a mountain in Baguio had lost its natural grandeur. What made me more upset seeing these unusual sceneries was that, machines ... Read more

I Saw Myself Sleeping: Was it an Astral Projection?

Directly in front of my room’s door was a window facing the pathway where our neighbors incessantly pass back and forth. Their gaudy chats and footsteps made me awake in the midst of the day. When I opened my eyes, I could barely see the light from the wooden jalousie which was shaded with shadows of the passers by. I tried to grab the switch beside the doorway but I wasn’t able to turn the light on. The fluorescent lamp in that room was not integrally part of the house’s electrical system. My uncle installed it by running an insulated wire from ... Read more

Sites You Should not Forget to Visit in Negros Oriental

Negros Oriental’s beauty remained a secret to the rest of the country. While most of us flocked to the most popular yet hackneyed destinations, the province’s frontiers were less occupied. The locals are randomly coming back and forth to those remarkable sceneries, yet they remained unknown outside the province. Only just recently, through the efforts of the provincial government, when the province launched a tourism campaign with a tag, “Negros Oriental: fun starts here, naturally”. However, the launch was made only in the Dumaguete, which, I believe targeted only the local market. Negros Oriental Tourism Campaign Banner as shown in Robinsons Dumaguete ... Read more

Outside this world

We live day by day carrying the consciousness that our individuality may somehow make other people hate or love us. Somehow, it will reach a point that we will begin to care for those people who are willing and brave enough to accept us – for all that we are and all that we can be. We fight for their acceptance. We even begin to trade off certain things for that acceptance we long from them. Sometimes, it leads us to bleed more than we could afford to. But bleeding means less crucial for what we want from these people, ... Read more

It is almost a year when rumors spread over the internet that Research In Motion (RIM) is planning to release an Andriod and iOS license for its flagship messaging service, BBM (Blackberry Messenger). October last year, photos showing Blackberry Messenger installed in iPhone and Android Phones were being proliferated among tech blogs, believed to be released by BBM insiders and tipsters. Is there a Perfect Formula for Philippine Prosperity?

Undeniably, the Philippines is blessed with natural resources. Being one of the top 10 biologically mega-diverse countries, the nation has more than 100 mammal species and 170 bird species that are endemic to its territory – a zesty tourists lure. Its location in the pacific ring of fire made the Philippines a potential mega-producer of geothermal energy and being rich with strongly flowing water bodies, the country can produce as much as 13,426 MW of electricity – both are renewable energy sources.
