Instagram for Android Sparks Word War between iOS and Android Users

Within 24 hours from its release Tuesday last week, Instagram had reached more than a million downloads. This may be one of the reason why iPhone users started to object for the release of the long-been iOS app to Android devices. These reactions were getting the attention of loyal Android users out there which eventually sparked a word war of these two consumer group. Twitter User, vs8, was angered with the availability of Instagram on Android A user who dislikes Instagram for Android According to one user (i suppose he is using an iOS device), instagram is getting slower since ... 41-Megapixel Camera: A Jaw-dropping Feature of Nokia 808 Pureview

Something cool is coming this May 2012 in the Philippine gadget stands, the Nokia 808 Pureview. The latest Nokia phone is not powered by Windows Phone 7 OS but with the near-dead platform, Symbian Belle. The phone’s soft launched came after the announcement of Nokia and Microsoft’s partnership to topple Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. Symbian OS, by the way, is currently maintained by Accenture. What is making Nokia 808 Pureview a lot interesting is its integrated 41-megapixel camera backed with Carl-Zeiss optics which Nokia aptly renamed as Pureview and a performing xenon flash. It is about capturing and housing ... Read more

Witnessing Crucifixions and Penitence in San Pedro Cutud, Pampanga

I jestingly invited my friends to witness the live crucifixions and penitential rites in San Pedro Cutud an eve prior to the village’s annual Lenten programs. Unknowingly, one of them ( Mico) had seriously taken the invitation. Since I was prying too of seeing these individuals nailed on the cross, I set our rendezvous and met at 9:00AM (which was previously scheduled at 11:00AM). It was pesky knowing that Genesis Bus in Pasay has suspended its travel operations during Good Friday, so we walked further and tried Five Star Bus in Tramo Street. Unfortunately, they had no trips going or ... Read more

Mystical Cave: An Interesting Place to Contemplate

One great location to visit and reflect this Lenten season is Inday Nelly’s Mystical Cave in Antipolo City, Rizal.  This 8-level deep cave attracts both tourists and devotees because of the holy figures and biblical images naturally formed or carved to its walls. This also draws the interests of researchers because of its stalagmites and stalactites formations.  It was Palm Sunday when I visited the cave alone. From Antipolo City, I rode a tricycle to the site. Special trip costs Php120.00 but since I travelled along with 3 passengers who were dropped along the way, I only pay PhP60.00. The ... Read more

Two Foreign Students Willing to be Crucified for their Thesis

I was quite surprised when I saw two foreign women carrying their cross in the San Pedro Cutud’s annual “Via Crucis”. Both were in shades while one of them was in boots. They were given permit only to film the rites however they angered the organizers when they took part of the procession by bearing their own cross. In Shades? Eventually, they were not allowed to reach the “Mount Calvary” nor permitted to be crucified. I always keep an eye on airline fare promos for me to plan my future trips. Cebu Pacific, being known for their budget fares, is the top airline of choice for seat sales. The Mountains’ Greatest Nightmare

If I am a mountain, then this would be my greatest nightmare. Unfortunately, for the few mountains I saw in the not so distant past, this had become a bold reality they were and are currently facing. Eight years ago when I attended the Regional Schools’ Press Conference in Bohol when I saw mountains which sides are being sliced to mine limestones. And just recently, I witnessed the same disturbing fate. Two Sierra Madre hills were being carved and a mountain in Baguio had lost its natural grandeur. What made me more upset seeing these unusual sceneries was that, machines ... Read more

I Saw Myself Sleeping: Was it an Astral Projection?

Directly in front of my room’s door was a window facing the pathway where our neighbors incessantly pass back and forth. Their gaudy chats and footsteps made me awake in the midst of the day. When I opened my eyes, I could barely see the light from the wooden jalousie which was shaded with shadows of the passers by. I tried to grab the switch beside the doorway but I wasn’t able to turn the light on. The fluorescent lamp in that room was not integrally part of the house’s electrical system. My uncle installed it by running an insulated wire from ... Read more
