When in Kuala Lumpur, seeing Petronas Twin Towers should be on every traveler’s list. Scaling the world’s highest twin towers is optional, but is highly recommended.

I intentionally scheduled my visit few minutes before sunset—a time when the sun starts to disappear from the horizon and a moment when the tinge of the welkin alters. I expected for a radiant, vivid, and vibrant skyline. Yes, I already imagined that the sunset would be spectacular at the top of Petronas Twin Towers.

I made the preparations in such a way that I won’t mess up the plan. Though I am always ready for any outright itinerary revisions, I just couldn’t afford to make the visit pass. Hence, I secured and booked my slot online in advance.

Booking an Admission Ticket to the View Deck

I acquired my ticket at Petronas website. However, you can only purchase the admission ticket within 10 days of your scheduled visit.

For a more convenient option, you can book your Petronas admission pass at Klook Travel for only for MYR120. Upon purchasing, you will receive an e-voucher, and then show it at Petronas ticket counter to collect the actual ticket. The voucher also includes a one-way complimentary transpo from Petronas Twin Towers to your hotel.

I couldn’t hide my excitement, which was pretty embarrassing, when I finally got the actual tickets to the skybridge and to the observation deck of the world’s tallest twin towers. Then I thought, why should I be ashamed of the blush if the rest of the group show equally exuberant faces.

Petronas Twin Towers Safety Orientation

When the clock ticked to 6 o’clock, the 6:15PM batch were called to queue in front of the automatic turnstile. It opened with a scan of the QR codes printed on our tickets.

We were given safety introductions and overview of the skyscraper using an advanced hologram presenter, which turned into an awesome animated light show during idle times. Afterwards, we were introduced to our guides, and were reminded to always follow the building regulations. We got no problem at all. Everybody behaved with utmost obedience.

When the elevator started to lift us up, the side walls turned into monitor panels that simulates the outside world. It showed a virtual reality of the surrounding structures, as if the elevator walls are transparent.

The Skybridge

We stopped at level 41 which is approximately 170 meters above the ground. At that level, the cars on the streets appeared teeny-weeny. The surrounding edifices looked much shorter too.

The skybridge connects both the 41st and the 42nd levels of Petronas Twin Towers. It is supported with a three-hinged arch and a pair of 51-meter legs that extends to the 29th level of both towers.

We were given 10 minutes for the photos ops.

By the way, the visitors’ batch were identified according the ID colors which were distributed during the orientation.

The View Deck at the 86th Floor

We took another elevator to reach the 86th floor. According to our guide, it is the highest accessible floor of the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers. At such level, I couldn’t imagine that I was standing 370 meters above the city. The scenery was completely stunning, and I couldn’t describe what I feel that moment. I was jubilant, but, at the same time, sad. Probably because I was alone. It should have been perfect if I am with someone special.

The observation deck, by the way, features some fascinating, high-tech displays, including digital galleries, light shows, and the miniature master plan of KLCC [Kuala Lumpur City Centre].

We were exactly in time for the sunset when we reached the observation deck. I couldn’t think of a fitting word to describe the beauty at such vantage point. I was stunned and captivated.

The moment, however, would be a lot noteworthy if I have friends beside me to share the view with.

The tour lasted around 30-minutes,. That wa short but was completely worth it.

Since I still had the time to lurk around, I did not miss taking a photo of the photogenic, architectural wonder.
